Chicago Thai Clientele

Chicago Thai Clientele

We have received many favorable reviews and awards. Our clientele is as varied as the city of Chicago itself and includes many professional and business people for lunch and dinner, as well as an occasional celebrity or politicians. Since we are close to many of the city’s tourist attractions we also attract customers from other parts of the United States and occasional foreign guests who have never before experienced Thai cuisine.

We serve traditional Thai food and the menu is divided among appetizers (such as chicken satay and mee-krob), soups (including tom yum), traditional entrees (curries and Thai-spiced rice dishes), house specialities (Star chicken delight and green curry beef) and noodle dishes (pad Thai and pad see eiw).We also have a full service bar which features imported Thai beers and ales. One of our popular specialities is Thai iced coffee deluxe. We also serve coconut and red bean ice cream as dessert specials.

Our future plans are to continue to serve the best Thai food in Chicago at reasonable prices in a warm and friendly environment. We have made many friends among our customers throughout the past twelve years and our goal is to make sure each and every customer comes back to visit us again.

Nimit’s Philosophies

Nimit’s Philosophies

Very few people in Mobile, Alabama will ever go to Thailand, but then they don’t really need to thanks to Sivaporn Nimityongskul, better known as Nimit. As the owner/manager of Bangkok Thai Cuisine, she has brought a hefty slice of Thai culture and cuisine to the people of Mobile.

In 1991 she built her first restaurant in a suburb of the coastal Alabama city, and ten years later she opened a second restaurant on its busiest thoroughfare, Airport Boulevard. Both restaurants feature authentic Thai cuisine prepared by Thai cooks, using the best ingredients available. According to Nimit, “It doesn’t matter if you have the best chef in the world if you don’t also use the freshest vegetables and seafood and the finest quality meats and poultry in your restaurant.” Surrounded by farmland and the Gulf of Mexico the Mobile area can easily provide high quality ingredients to Bangkok Thai Cuisine’s two locations.

Both restaurants are furnished with carved teak tables and chairs from Thailand. But the Airport Boulevard location is a bit more upscale with pine paneled walls and intimate lighting. It features a variety of seating arrangements, with booths along two walls and carved teak panels to assure privacy. The central area houses a number of small tables grouped in a variety of ways to accommodate small and large parties, and the rear area is intimately screened off in one corner to meet the needs of guests who desire more privacy. Throughout the restaurant carved teak screens and wooden screens brightly painted in traditional Thai motifs provide flexibility in defining particular areas depending on the needs of any given day. Three walls of the restaurant are adorned with a series of colorful paintings that depict the life of Buddha interspersed with an assortment of mirrors with carved teak frames.

Nimit’s Wishes

Nimit’s Wishes

The exterior of the restaurant is also decorated with teak carving, especially the front doorway which is covered by an elaborate carved teak roof. The entry area is dominated by a huge carved teak cashier counter beside which is a waiting area composed of a group of upholstered carved teak armchairs and a sofa grouped around a coffee table. Throughout the front of the restaurant several wooden display cases showcase a variety of exquisite art objects ranging from delicate tea sets to two large ceramic angels imported from Thailand. It is Nimit’s wish that her guests experience a lush Thai decor while they relish the authentic Thai cuisine that her restaurants offer.

The cooks at Bangkok Thai Cuisine are Thai, and the servers are Asian men and women clothed in traditional Thai attire. The menu features seventy-three items ranging from such traditional appetizers as fried wontons and spring rolls to a variety of soups and salads, fried rice, six kinds of curry, and traditional a la carte dishes such as Broccoli Oyster Sauce and Sweet and Sour with chicken, beef, or pork. The close proximity of the Gulf of Mexico allows Nimit to offer thirteen seafood entrees in addition to five noodle dishes which allow a choice of chicken or shrimp. In addition, Bangkok Thai Cuisine offers seven vegetarian entrees and a group of special entrees, such as Special Panang Curry with chicken or shrimp and Mee Krob Laad Nah with chicken.

In the interest of following the guidelines of the American Heart Association, which recommends a diet low in sodium and cholesterol, Bangkok Thai Cuisine uses no animal fats and no MSG and allows guests to substitute brown rice for the traditional jasmine rice. This approach to healthy eating coupled with the tangy blend of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors used to enhance the taste of the best and freshest foods makes Bangkok Thai Cuisine an adventure in fine dining. It is no wonder that the restaurant has been named the Best Ethnic Restaurant in Mobile for five years in a row.

Erawan Thai Cuisine

Erawan Thai Cuisine opened for business in August of 1999. As Thai Cuisine became more popular in Manhattan, Mr. Paul Lim, the owner and founder of Erawan Thai Cuisine, Bayside, wanted to upgrade Thai cooking by using fresh Thai ingredients with high quality Western product focusing on beef and seafood.

Erawan Thai Cuisine has found sophisticated and experienced palate in this first outer borough location. The restaurant was one of the first Thai restaurants to use high quality beef featuring Sirloin Steak on its regular menu and Porterhouse Steak as one of our chef’s Weekly Specials. Erawan also served filet fish such as Chilean Seabass, Tuna, and freshly imported seafood from Australia, New Zealand, the Mediteranean and Hawaii to create new and exciting specials daily. Some of our extremely popular and signature dishes are Porterhouse with Thai Chilli Paste served with spicy dip, New zealand rack of lamb with lemongrass, 1 1/2 lb. Canadian Whole Lobster Pad Thai, Lobster Fried Rice, and Soft Shell Crab with Mango Sauce. This combined with a sophisticated wine list including Erawan’s private label seem to offer our customer a satisfying dining experience.

Since the combination proved to be very successful, Erawan Seafood and Steak was created in 2005 to extend from our regular Thai menu into one that specialized in Seafood and Steak. With added focus on presentation and high end items, Erawan Seafood and Steak has been gaining diners on a regular basis, proving the neighborhood’s acceptance for high end cuisine.
